A staple of Lake County for the last nearly 30 years, Steele Winery carries on the legacy of its founder Jed Steele with a focus on small allotments of a wide range of wine varietals. Shannon Family of Wines purchased Steele in 2020 and has continued Jed’s practice of craftsmanship winemaking.
Those of you who follow the Merman know he is not a huge fan of big California reds. However, you also know that when he finds one that he likes, it's a winner!!
This 2019 Mendocino blend from Giannecchini Family vinyards is an old world blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, and Merlot. Bold fruit flavors, nice oak some of that fignewton flavor Merman loves.
Well worth the money and quite reasonable for a Califirnia red of this quality.
Was well paired with a veggie sandwich and tomato, avocado, spinach salad. Really good!!!

California has released a sustainable pest management roadmap that aims to eliminate high-risk pesticides by 2050. In response, winemakers are adopting regenerative agriculture practices, such as integrating sheep into vineyards to control weeds and promote soil fertility. The shift towards environmentally conscious farming is also driving winemakers to embrace the Slow Wine movement, taking time to care for the land and make high-quality wine.

Kids were chasing bubbles from the bubble machine and selecting great books to enjoy reading at home. Thank you Stephanie Dobrowski, Evonne Landwehr, & Debbie Zacharisen!❤️

Lower Lake High School:
Thank you to The Bloom for this wonderful recognition of the Wine Auction and our beneficiaries ❤️
"There's something unique about the Wine Auction. It's been around for over twenty years and is still going strong. And there's a good reason why; the Wine Auction raises huge amounts for local schools, nonprofits, and volunteer organizations. Here's a small sample of the groups that benefit from the generosity of this amazing evening: Lake County Youth Symphony, Lake County Arts Council, CLHS and LLHS Culinary Programs, Operation Tango Mike, People Services, Ely Stage Stop, Lake Family Resource Center, Kelseyville Food Pantry, Totes for Teens, North Shore Fire Fund, Operation Santa, Lake County Channel Cats, Mother-Wise, and all five of Lake County High Schools' Fine Arts programs.
It's a big list, and that's less than half of the organizations that the Wine Auction's donations support. We've written about many, and if you live in Lake County, you have been served by one of these organizations. Lake County needs these businesses and nonprofits to thrive, and the hundreds of thousands of dollars the Wine Auction raises help that happen."
Donations are still being accepted for the 2023 Beneficiaries 🌟 (LINK IN BIO)
